The Origin Hip Hop Performing Arts Academy uses hip hop as a powerful tool for creativity, education, confidence, and community connection. Founded by the Frye family in 2010, the academy has served more than 1,500 youth, teens, and adults through programs rooted in the cultural, social, and artistic values of hip hop. With locations in Carlsbad and La Mesa, The Origin offers dance classes, youth and teen camps, dance crews, afterschool programs, adult classes, and event opportunities. Its work centers the four core elements of hip hop while giving students a positive space to learn, perform, build discipline, and express themselves through movement and culture.
